Current Events

As many of you know we constantly monitor the average water level in all eight of our wells. We monitor the average level of the water (in feet) above the submerged pumps. This measure provides a gauge of health of the aquifer in our area. The highest levels were reached in September 2007 after the huge rainfalls of that year. The lowest point was reached in August of 2009 just before it started to rain again. The levels will periodically rise and fall with rainfall and usage patterns. The actual average well levels by month from June 2006 are shown on the attached graph. Please click on well levels at the bottom of this page. At the next menu select "open" with excel. The vertical axis represents feet of water above the transducer and the horizontal axis is months since June 2006. The lowest levels are obvious (summer 2006 @ 3 months, summer 2009 @ 37 months, and summer 2011 @ 63 months).

The SAWS tap has been functioning fine without any problems since we activated it on 20 Feb 2012.  We have installed equipment to move SAWS water to all areas. We have adjusted loads on some wells and can increase or decrease the amount of water we take from SAWS when required.

We have had to adjust our rates to accommodate the increased cost of SAWS water.  This will be a continuing concern since SAWS increases their rates annually.

System improvements are continuing. We recently completed an upgrade of the Country Estates pressure tank. The old tank was too small for the connections presently being served. The smaller tank will be moved to the Mountain Top location during a future project. This will provide a back up for the larger tank presently there. This will permit maintenance of that tank without interrupting service.

The pump station at Country Estates has a number of deficiencies. The best solution for its problems is a new facility. Construction is underway using in-house resources as much as possible. Hopefully this will be completed during 2017.
